Utility Engineering

Responsible for providing utility engineering services to support various Sussex County Departments and outside contacts such as consulting engineers, developers, utility contractors, plumbers, utility customers, and the general public. Services provided include:

• Utility locating services to protect the integrity of the existing County-owned systems
• Construction inspection services to ensure utilities are being installed in accordance with Sussex County standards
• Inspection of water and sewer connections to ensure the proper operations and integrity of County-owned systems
• Assist in emergency response and recovery operations to reduce impacts from coastal storms or other such events
• Maintain and provide record drawings of existing County utilities for use by engineers, planners and system operators
