Learn about Greater Lewes Community Village effort to network seniors

Georgetown, DE (Jan. 14, 2013) The Sussex County Advisory Committee for the Aging & Adults with Physical Disabilities will hold its first meeting of 2013 on Monday, Jan. 28, and will feature a presentation from members of the Greater Lewes Community Village about the organization and its mission to connect seniors living, working and recreating in Sussex County.

The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at the County Administrative Offices West Complex, 22215 N. DuPont Boulevard, in Georgetown. Marty D’Erasmo, Carol Wzoreck, and Barbara Vaughan will be providing a presentation on the growing Greater Lewes Community Village.

The Greater Lewes Community Village is a non-profit organization for residents 50 and older living in the Lewes area to help provide them with services, expertise, social interaction, and practical means so that they may live on their own freely and without harm.

The Sussex County Advisory Committee on Aging & Adults with Physical Disabilities is an 11-member panel established by the Sussex County Council to be an advocate for programs and policies that benefit older and disabled residents. The committee meets every other month, in January, March, May, July, September and November. All meetings are open to the public.

The Advisory Committee’s mission is to increase dialogue, make recommendations to Sussex County Council, and to give support, assistance and advice on significant issues and programs that may affect the lives of the county’s aging and adults with physical disabilities populations.
