Learn about senior quality of life indicators in Sussex County

Georgetown, DE (Sept. 12, 2016): The rise in Sussex County’s senior population has important policy implications for government officials, community leaders and social service organizations in the years ahead. The more people, the more services have to adapt. But the increase could have a more profound, personal and individual effect – on the quality of life for thousands of senior citizens.

The Sussex County Advisory Committee on Aging & Adults with Physical Disabilities will host a presentation at its next meeting, at 10 a.m. Monday, Sep. 19, in which University of Delaware Institute for Public Administration (IPA) policy scientist Julia O’Hanlon and doctoral student Angela Kline will discuss their study, “Quality of Life Indicators Related to Sussex County’s Growing Senior Population.” A copy of the report can be found online at http://www.ipa.udel.edu/publications/quality-life-indicators-2016.pdf. The meeting will be held at the Milton CHEER Center, 24855 Broadkill Road, Milton.

The Sussex County Advisory Committee on Aging & Adults with Physical Disabilities is an 11-member panel established by the Sussex County Council to be an advocate for programs and policies that benefit older and disabled residents. The committee meets every other month, in January, March, May, July, September and November. All meetings are open to the public.

The Advisory Committee’s mission is to increase dialogue, make recommendations to Sussex County Council, and to give support, assistance and advice on significant issues and programs that may affect the lives of the county’s aging and adults with physical disabilities populations.
