Most Sussex County libraries to close Thursday, May 9, for conference, staff development

April 25, 2013: Most public libraries in Sussex County will be closed Thursday, May 9, 2013, so staff can attend the annual Delaware Library Association/Maryland Library Association (DLA/MLA) Conference in Ocean City, Md.

Libraries in Sussex County strive to provide residents with first-rate library service. To support this mission, the Sussex County Department of Libraries provides continuing education and professional staff development. The conference is a chance for library professionals to network, as well as to learn from one another and share their expertise.

Conferences are a key way to accomplish the goal. DLA/MLA will offer concurrent sessions throughout the day that will be provided by local, regional and national library and community leaders.

Both Sussex County and independent libraries will reopen at their regular time on Friday, May 10, 2013. Please check your local library regarding the closure and hours of operation.
