Sussex County names Marcia A. Elliott employee of the year

Georgetown, Del., Dec. 2, 2016: Sussex County has named Marcia A. Elliott of Laurel the 2016 employee of the year for County government.

This year’s winner was announced during the annual Mildred King Luncheon for the County’s approximately 500 employees. Ms. Elliott was selected from a field of four employees, all quarterly winners this past year, for the honor.

Ms. Elliott, this year’s fourth quarter winner, received a standing ovation from employees as she was presented with a plaque.

“I am very grateful and humbled by this acknowledgement,” said Ms. Elliott, who is a human resources specialist in the County’s Human Resources department. “It is such a privilege and honor to work with so many wonderful people. I am proud to be part of this team.”

County Finance Director Gina Jennings commended Ms. Elliott for her five years of dedicated service to the County government, where she began in the HR office in November 2011. Ms. Jennings praised Ms. Elliott for her professionalism, personality, enthusiasm and commitment to going above and beyond – a common refrain among the nominating letters from her fellow employees – in service to the County organization, its employees and the constituents served.
