Sussex County Council pledges support for Mayors Challenge to End Veteran Homelessness in 2015

Sussex County Council members sign a resolution to support the Mayors Challenge to End Veteran Homelessness in 2015

Sussex County Council is joining with other communities in Delaware and across the nation to work toward ending homelessness among veterans this year. Council on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, adopted a resolution pledging its support for the Mayors Challenge to End Veteran Homelessness in 2015, a national effort to coordinate and marshal resources among local, state, federal and non-profit agencies to work toward the goal of assisting homeless veterans with housing. By signing on to the Mayors Challenge, Sussex County and its staff will work with an already-established statewide working group to facilitate veteran homeless efforts in Sussex County and across Delaware to direct resources where they are needed most.

The Mayors Challenge to End Veteran Homelessness in 2015 is a joint initiative of Joining Forces, the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Sussex County proudly joins the State of Delaware, New Castle County, Kent County, as well as several communities, including Seaford and Georgetown in Sussex County, by joining this worthwhile initiative.
