Learn about legal services to aid aging, those with physical disabilities

Georgetown, DE (Nov. 13, 2012) Senior citizens and those with disabilities often face unique challenges as they grow older or live day to day with physical limitations. And with those challenges, both groups can find themselves in a swirl of legal questions and concerns – from establishing wills and estate planning to determining long-term care options and how to select an attorney.

There is help available, though, to help seniors and the disabled overcome the legal hurdles they face.

Emily A. Farley, Esq., director of the Elder Law Project for the Community Legal Aid Society, will be the featured guest speaker at the November meeting of the Sussex County Advisory Committee for the Aging & Adults with Physical Disabilities. Ms. Farley will present information on the various programs offered by the Community Legal Aid Society, particularly those that benefit seniors and individuals with special needs. The meeting begins at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at the County Administrative Offices West Complex, 22215 N. DuPont Boulevard, in Georgetown.

The Sussex County Advisory Committee for the Aging & Adults with Physical Disabilities is an 11-member panel established by the Sussex County Council to be an advocate for programs and policies that benefit older and disabled residents. The committee meets every other month, in January, March, May, July, September and November. All meetings are open to the public.

The Advisory Committee’s mission is to increase dialogue, make recommendations to Sussex County Council, and to give support, assistance and advice on significant issues and programs that may affect the lives of the county’s aging and adults with physical disabilities populations.
