Learn about new health plan for home- and community-based services

Georgetown, DE (Feb. 22, 2012): If you or someone you know receives services provided under the Delaware Medicaid Home and Community Based Waiver program, make plans to attend the next meeting of the Sussex County Advisory Committee for the Aging & Adults with Physical Disabilities.

A presentation will be provided on the Diamond State Health Plan Plus, the new managed-care health plan for home- and community-based services, which becomes effective April 1, 2012.

The meeting begins at 10 a.m. Monday, March 19, at the Milton CHEER Center, 13275 Reynolds Road. Janet Villareal, planner for the State Division of Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities, will provide the presentation in coordination with the Delaware Medicaid and Medical Assistance Program. The Sussex County Advisory Committee for the Aging & Adults with Physical Disabilities wants to hear from the public about how the transition of the home- and community-based waiver to a managed-care system could affect health services in Sussex County.

The Sussex County Advisory Committee for the Aging & Adults with Physical Disabilities is an 11-member panel established by the Sussex County Council to be an advocate for programs and policies that benefit older and disabled residents. The committee meets every other month, in January, March, May, July, September and November. All meetings are open to the public.

The Advisory Committee’s mission is to increase dialogue, make recommendations to Sussex County Council, and to give support, assistance and advice on significant issues and programs that may affect the lives of the county’s aging and adults with physical disabilities populations.
