Sussex County to host homebuyer fair

Georgetown, Del., Sept. 8, 2014: Sussex County wants to put the keys to homeownership in the hands of its citizens.

The County, in partnership with the Delaware State Housing Authority, Sussex County Association of REALTORS®, First State Community Action Agency, and NCALL Research Inc., will host the inaugural Sussex County Homebuyer Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27. The event will be held inside the Carter Partnership Center at the Delaware Technical Community College, Owens Campus in Georgetown.

The event is free and open to the public, and is designed to match potential homebuyers with housing counselors, lenders and other resources that are available to help put would-be buyers in their own homes. Vendors will be featured at the event, as well, showcasing their products and services. While anyone can attend, pre-registration is strongly encouraged so attendees can receive a free copy of their credit reports while at the fair.

“We are very excited to bring together organizations from the public, private and non-profit sectors in Sussex County to provide potential homebuyers with all the resources necessary to attain homeownership,” said Brandy Nauman, housing coordinator for the County’s Community Development & Housing office. “This event will be a great one-stop shop for anyone who is in the market to buy a home, especially first-time homebuyers.”
